Abstract

Platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF), as an important cytokine, can induce mesangial cell proliferation and accumulate extracellular matrix. The proliferation of the mesangial cells correlate with the cell cycle regulation. The different isoform of PDGF works on mesangial cells to produce different effects. This review summarizes the relevant mechanism about PDGF inducing proliferation of mesangial cells. Key words: Platelet-derived growth factor; Proliferation of mesangial cell; Antagonist; Inhibitor
