Abstract

The work presents the conception of a programmable power electronics voltage source (PVS) with the modified sigma-delta modulator (SDM) in a control section. The modulator includes an analog comparator with a dynamic hysteresis loop, instead of a latched comparator, which is typically used in single-bit SDMs. Thank to this feature a resolution of the SDM output bit stream is, theoretically, unlimited. Very high value of carrier frequency of a PWM signal at the output of SDM forced use in the power stage of the system GaN transistors. The planned field of application of the PVS is an Automated Test Equipment (ATE)-for testing medium power devices. In the work the PVS's operation basics as well as results of its simulation model findings are presented.
