Abstract
The design of a progammable monochromator output controller is presented. It can be programmed to produce a constant intensity light beam as a function of wavelength from 300 to 1100 nm. Alternately, it may be programmed to produce any desired intensity vs wavelength output. This feature has been applied to simulate the solar spectrum between 300 and 1100 nm. The latter capability may find an important application in the testing and precise characterization of solar cells.
