Abstract

Due to the heterogeneous nature of the devices and data communication protocols used in the Internet of Things (IoT), security becomes an important issue. Hence, this article attempts to enhance the security of IoT data in healthcare scenario and proposes a programmable cellular automaton based one-time pad framework. A theoretical analysis has been carried out and a mathematical model is developed to prevent chosen plaintext and brute force attacks. The performance of OTP is analyzed using simulation with respect to size, lifetime, iteration, integrity, computation time of algorithm and the results show that it is efficient for protecting security of IoT healthcare data.
