Abstract
The R&D work of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK) related to reactor safety and the safety of nuclear waste disposal is concentrated in the Nuclear Safety Research Programme (NUKLEAR). In the reporting period 2001, the programme NUKLEAR covered five main topics of work: Light Water Reactor safety Innovative systems Studies related to the transmutation of actinides Safety research related to final waste storage Immobilisation of HAW Numerous institutes of the research centre contribute to the work programme, as well as several external partners. The tasks are coordinated in agreement with internal and external working groups. The contributions to this report, which are either written in German or in English, correspond to the status of early 2002.
