Abstract
In the face of rapid civilization changes a renewal of parish communities that aims to be “nearer to people, to make [parishes] environments of living communion and participation, and to make them completely mission-oriented” (Evangelii gaudium 28) becomes a pressing challenge. This challenge is inscribed in the instruction „The pastoral conversion of the Parish community in the service of the evangelising mission of the Church” of the Congregation for the Clergy. The instruction deals with the contemporary issues related to shaping parish life. The article uses the context of the instruction to present the “New community” parish renewal programme based on the pastoral vision proposed by Father Franciszek Blachnicki. Although it had been devised at the beginning of our millennium the programme is totally in line with the pastoral renewal Pope Francis calls us to.
