Abstract

Until now, most youth and college student-related appropriate technology events have been held in a short period of 2 to 4 days in the short camp setting, with intensive lectures on appropriate technology and engineering design methodologies, and a platform to develop and present ideas through group practice, or in the form of a competition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development process and application results of the Youth Idea Sketch Contest, which was conducted in the form of a short-term school with a 3-4 month participation period, to suggest the direction of developing an appropriate technology science class program for teenagers in the future. In particular, among the results of the survey conducted after the type of competition for the next program plan, the program development process was examined in detail by analyzing the feedback of the steering committee who planned and conducted the competition. After that, the school distribution and idea topics of domestic and foreign students participating in this competition were also analyzed. In addition, the distribution of the participating teams' domestic and foreign middle and high schools and the theme of the participating teams' ideas were analyzed. In addition, by conducting a survey of incumbent professors and researchers who participated in mentoring to evaluate the overall satisfaction of the competition and analyzing it, it was possible to indirectly grasp the experiences of mentors and students. Based on this competition analysis in this study, it is believed that it will be able to contribute to the development of better youth appropriate technology science class programs in the future.
