Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the myriad of ways in which personal financial education is delivered in state colleges and universities in the USA. It presents the broad findings from initial research conducted for this study (college responses to the researcher’s emails, literature reviews, and other sources). It provides a synopsis of findings on financial education delivery methods such as “for-credit” personal finance courses, section(s) within the Freshman Seminar/First Year Experience (FYE) courses, established agreements and relationships with financial institutions, financial literacy seminars and workshops, special events and activities, online resources, peer counseling, individualized financial counseling, money management or financial education centers, classroom and group presentations, and other financial education efforts. Further, this chapter explicates a four-fold typology of financial education programs based on their organizational structure and functioning. These are the Academic Model, the Full-Fledged Money Management Center Model, the Seed Program and the Branch model.
