Abstract

There should be no room in this field of work for static abstractions, short cuts, or manipulations of drastically averaged and not too meaningful averages of the kind used and abused by A.V. Ronov and his group for 20 years. Genetic approach, historical principle, and quantitative detail are missing in their research, with the accompanying neglect of the eluvial process, redistribution of elements in sedimentation basins of different kind, development of sedimentary ores, and others. Quantitative dynamic stage-by-stage analysis of the geochemical process in its space-time perspectives is the only truly scientific way to approach the problem, whose difficulty should not be made the excuse for avoiding it altogether. -- V.P. Sokoloff
