Abstract
Objective To investigate the prognosis and related risk factors of community acquired pneumonia (CAP).Methods From Match 2009 to Feberary 2010,elderly CAP cases from the General Hospital of Civil Navigation were enrolled. The onset information and clinical outcomes were recorded. We analysed the influence of various risk factors on the prognosis of patients; we also analysed different CURB-65 scores in patients with different outcome. Results Total of 164 elderly CAP patients were enrolled. There was significant difference between the dead group and survival group ( P < 0.05) in stroke, heart rate >125 beats/min,hematocrit <0.3,arterial pH<7.35,arterial oxygen saturation <90%,serum sodium <130 mmol/L and multi-lobe infiltration. The mortality rates were 4.0%,13.0%,43.7%,100.0%,100.0% for CAP patients with CURB-65 score of 1- 5 correspondingly. Conclusions The CURB-65 score combined with lung inflammatory infiltration range, heart rate > 125 beats/min,hematocrit <0.3,arterial pH<7.35 and other factors can be applied in prognostic assessment of elderly CAP patients with risk of death.
