Abstract

This multiauthored text provides an overview of epidemiological, clinical, and molecular prognostic factors for human cancers in all organ systems. Produced in concert with the International Union against Cancer, it extends the traditional tumor-node-metastasis classification system to include both well-recognized and newer, more promising factors that may affect cancer prognosis. After several interesting introductory chapters on principles of prognostic factors are entries on most major tumor types. Each concise chapter follows the same model, describing the relationship between tumor-, host-, and environment-related factors and outcome.
