Abstract

The purpose of the work – to analyze data from the world literature regarding thedetermination of the probable role of the progesterone receptor gene polymorphism asa factor in the occurrence of premature birth.Conclusions. 1. Progesterone receptor gene polymorphism plays a significant role inthe mechanisms of development and course of miscarriage, negative pregnancy outcomeand low birth weight of newborns. 2. The probability of the threat of premature birthin different periods of gestation or termination of pregnancy with premature birth maydepend on the presence of one or another polymorphism. 3. Genetic variability thatcan lead to changes in the biological functions of the progesterone receptor, the geneticpolymorphism of the progesterone receptor is a major risk factor for complications ofpreterm birth.
