Abstract
(N Engl J Med. 2019;380(19):1867–1868) Threatened abortion is a condition in which a pregnant woman experiences bleeding through the vagina and closed cervix before a fetus has reached a viable gestational age. Although most women who experience bleeding early in their pregnancies do not experience miscarriage, there remains a justifiable interest in determining treatments to improve the chances of a healthy live-born baby from such a high-risk pregnancy. The original study was to determine whether the widely accepted hormonal treatment method of progesterone effectively produces the desired live births.
