Abstract
Tribalism in nursing and health care doesn’t lead to wars but it does result in poor quality care for children and families. Defence of professional territory leads to failures in communication, less understanding and valuing of each professional group’s contribution and eventually to poor quality ‘unseamless’ care. Some of the worst tribalism is found between professional groups and specialties within nursing.
