Abstract

The boot time in the CE device is most important factors that affects usability. In this paper, we propose optimization methods for minimizing I/O by reading only the data required for booting through the optimization of the data block location in the file system based on the profiled I/O pattern data. In addition, by ensuring the high availability of pages read into main memory, it enables sequential read with larger I/O transfer size. Experiment shows that the time required for I/O at the time of booting was 30% less than before and the total boot time improved by about 10%.
