Abstract

In present era of development and modernization fire safety is still a concern and it has been same since ages in India. Many people succumb to age old friend and foe of humans that is fire. Many studies have been done in this field but studies just focusing on females have been left untouched in many areas. So this study was taken at Department of Forensic Medicine Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur over a period of one year from November, 2013 to October. 2014. A total of 3306 medico-legal autopsies were conducted during the study period, out of them 514 cases were fatalities due to flame burns, out of them 288 were females. Such high ratio of deaths of females motivated us for this study.
