Abstract

Periodontal disease is one of the diseases affecting teeth and gum with high prevalence globally, indicated by inflammation on gingiva, alveolar bone, cementum and periodontal ligaments. This study aimed to finding out the profile of periodontal disease in the RSUDAWS from 2016-2020. This study is descriptive observational, which was conducted by collecting the medical records of patients from 2016-2020. 130 samples were collected through purposive sampling. This study results showed that chronic periodontitis was the most periodontal disease classification was 70 patients (53,8%), the highest number of patients were female as 71 patients (54,6%). Most patients were found in the age group of 17-25 years old with 35 patients (26,9%). Private workers were found to experience the disease the most, with 57 patients (43,8%). Patients with senior high school educational background noted as high, with 73 patients (56,2%), and the most systemic illnesses found in the periodontal patients were nasopharyngeal carcinoma with 17 patients (13,1%). Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital is a highest referral hospital in Kalimantan Timur Province tends to have low cases of periodontal disease with a higher severity cases of periodontal disease than other health provider in this region.
