Abstract

Professor Sir John Lilleyman is a paediatric haematologist. He has been president of the Royal College of Pathologists, vice chairman of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, and vice chairman of the Joint Consultants Committee. In April 2004 he became medical director of the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), and in July 2004 he became president of the Royal Society of Medicine.
