Abstract

Nowadays about 400,000 people do volunteer work for German church welfare. Above all, they are willing to help other people. A look back at the history of voluntary work for church welfare shows that in this case original characteristics of Christian motivated help apply. People volunteering for church welfare need acknowledgement, qualification, and support instead of professionalism.
