Professional versus personal authenticity in the workplace

Abstract

In this month's column, I am writing about authenticity, a concept that has gained traction in recent years as people work to fully express who they are and what their values are. I think of authenticity as a spectrum, ranging from an almost‐prisoner‐like constrained existence to a free‐love anything‐goes existence. In relation to the workplace, I have concerns about the extremes of this spectrum.
