Abstract

Professional registration has been standard for clinical professions (medicine and nursing) for a very long time. It is now rapidly becoming also a feature of life for the allied health professions. Increasing numbers of colleagues in the Allied Health Professions now come under the umbrella of CORU, the State's registration board for health and social care professions. Medical physics is not on the list of named professions and it is unlikely that it will be included until the establishment of the Registration Councils for all of the named professions and a subsequent review of the operation of CORU. This is unlikely to be before 2020.
