Abstract
Art. 2(h) Unfair commercial practices Directive 2005/29/EC refers to the 'professional diligence', without making clear what this standard entails. Comparative legal research on the topic of professional diligence shows varying implementation of this legal standard, and the way in which the standard is developed in concrete rules. This leads to several tentative conclusions regarding standards in European private law.
