Abstract

The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are rights granted by the law to promote innovations in India. In 2016 the Governemnt of India framed the new IPR policy and under this policy taken the initiative IPR Awareness: Outreach and Promotion program. The MHRD have established as IPR chairs in Some IIT’s and In accrediation process of NAAC and NBA made mandetory for the College and Universities have to set up IPR Cell. The Centre for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) is set up by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), to guide policy in IPR and create a conducive environment for IP awareness and enforcement. The CIPAM offeres grants for academic institutions to organize workshop and seminar for IPR awareness. The Library professionals will play vital role in IPR awareness and promotion. To become IPR literate the library professionals needs to proficient in all aspects of IPR. There are many Distance mode Post Graduate Diploma & Degrees offered by law schools in India and online courses are available recognized MOOC platforms. This paper focuses on importance of IPR awareness and promotion and professional development opportunity for the library professional.
