Abstract

This article suggests ideas that can help with professional development, particularly for students and young professionals. These ideas are largely based on the authors’ perspectives and practices developed over three decades of engagement with their professions. Some ideas in this article are covered in one of the author’s talks on this topic <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="ref1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[1]</xref> .
