Abstract

The urgency of the problem under research has been conditioned by the needs of education, which has been intensively modernized and thus needs specialists, in particular educational managers, who are multiculturally competent. Educational managers, due to the heterogeneity of teams in terms of cultural values, beliefs, social orientations and attitudes, should take a socially active position, direct staffs of educational establishments to promote humanistic ideals, tolerance, and promote awareness of the value of their ethnicity and subculture without infringing of the culture and traditions of other ethnic groups. This article has examined the content of educational managers in a multicultural region, which is an extremely important issue for modern multicultural society. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the professional activity of educational managers in a multicultural region. Research methods: analysis and systematization of scientific sources, Internet resources for the purpose of theoretical substantiation of the researched problem. According to multi-ethnic nature of Ukraine and based on the modern provisions of educational management, the authors have revealed the main factors that ensure effective professional activity in the conditions of the multicultural region. There has been a need to introduce a multicultural component in the content of training of future educational managers at higher educational establishment. Based on the generalized scientific information, it has been established that the formed multicultural and cross-cultural competencies of educational managers contribute to the implementation of managing activities in a multicultural region. Educational managers, according to the authors ideas, should: have knowledge of the basics of multicultural education, in particular the specifics of the region in which this activity has been carried out; have formed multicultural competence (sufficient and high level); have the basic provisions for creating a multicultural educational environment of the institution; to be guided by the basic provisions of cross-cultural management, which includes the formed cross-cultural competence; to possess innovative technologies of educational institution management in a multicultural region, etc. Taking into account these aspects has been a necessary condition for the professional activity of a modern educational manager in the conditions of multicultural region.
