Abstract

The article describes the perceptions about death since the discourses funeral professionals, who are working or have worked in thanatopraxia. It analyzes the extent to which being socialized with death –knowing it and working with it– determines the personal and social perception about it. For the analysis was applied the life course, that allows to explain the phenomena that constitute and give explanation to the dynamics of our lives. Being socialized with death, living and working with it, these professionals' perceptions about death are very particular. For all this, the analysis of their discourses constitutes a model or social archetype about death, which has been called neo-modern post-tradicional model.
