Abstract
THE preparations of M- and N-blood group substances obtained by phenol extraction of human erythrocyte stroma are mucoids1. They contain, on an average, 10 per cent of hexoses, 6.5 per cent of hexosamines, 1 per cent of fucose, 17 per cent of N-acetylneuraminic acid and 7.5 per cent of total nitrogen1,2.
