Abstract
The productivity of clinical engineering technologists, which has been measured over a period of six years, is discussed. Technical staff and medical equipment have been classified into specialized groups to optimize resources and improve productivity. Over the six-year interval since inception of the program a productivity improvement by a factor of two is reported. The program has identified weakness within the working group, identified staff members who require special attention, including improved training, and provided a base from which to access overall departmental performance. >
