Abstract

In any manufacturing facility the main challenge is productivity improvement, reduces waste, at the same time spread the load evenly across all workstations. Lean Manufacturing technique is used to identify and continuously reduce waste in the manufacturing process. The current study was carried out Productivity improvement in oil free airend assembly. In this process Elemental analysis is used to identify the non-value-added activities. ECRS (E- Eliminate, C-Combine, R-Rearrange, and S-Simplify) is methodology is used to take corrective action for the NVA (Non value added) activity and handle the same to minimize. In the process each activity is listed down and same categories among the Value-Added Activity and Non-Value-Added Activity. Type of waste involved in the process, each of the NVA in the process analyzed. Each of the activity is further analyzed in brainstorming session is used to generate kaizen ideas. Each of these kaizens is discussed in detail with objective of minimizing the NVA and improves efficiency of the process. Further the study involves handling issues and implementing kaizens and sustaining them. A standard operating procedure (SOP) for each kaizen implemented for the further references.
