Abstract

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is process that maximizes or improves the machine lifecycle and its productivity. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) has been recognized as one of the significant operation strategies to regain the production losses due to equipment inefficiency. TPM has been widely implemented to enhance equipment efficiency and which further lead to competitive advantage in terms of cost and quality in the global market. TPM is not simply a preventive maintenance program. Rather, it is a strategic management initiative to increase capacity and end the vicious cycle of ‘breakdowns’ or reactive repairs using autonomous and predictive maintenance, as well as equipment modifications to facilitate optimum machine availability, quality, and performance. This research was conducted to study the implementation of TPM and to prove TPM may improve the production efficiency. Based on the findings, we can conclude that TPM is tools, techniques and methods that help increases food production efficiency.
