Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper addresses the problems associated with production scheduling in open pit mines once the ultimate pit limits have been defined. A computer package is presented, capable of evaluating alternative short and long range production schedules. Simulation is employed for long range, and linear programming for short range production scheduling, the objective being to maximize cash-flow over the mine life. The model is applied to a case study.
