Production Planning Algorithm and Software for Sofa Factory

Abstract

In this paper, we develop an algorithm to create a production plan for a sofa factory. We propose a heuristic to create a schedule. We also model the problem using a linear programming. . Both approaches are compared using the real case study in the furniture factory. The heuristic performs almost the same as in the integer linear program. It also gives a better plan than the tradition approaches. We integrate our heuristic to production planning software which contains database of task steps, models and standard times. Then, it produces a schedule to suggest how the orders are processed.
