Abstract
1. The transalkylation of toluene with trimethylbenzenes on zeolitic catalysts has been studied, and process conditions have been selected for maximum production of xylenes. 2. It has been shown that the maximum yield of xylenes is achieved with a. 1:1 ratio of toluene to trimethylbenzene, a temperature of 430–450°C, a gage pressure of 40 kgf/cm2, a feedstock space velocity of 1 h−1, and a 10 ∶ 1 ratio of H2 to hydrocarbon. 3. It has been shown that the xylene fraction contains 24.6% p-xylene by weight, and not more than 0.15% ethylbenzene. The yield of xylene fraction is 96–97% by weight.
