Abstract

Thick enriched isotopic 130Te targets are required to search for high-spin isomers in 142Pr using fusion reactions in 130Te produced in a low-energy 17N radioactive ion (RI) beam (∼5 MeV) at RCNP, Osaka University. For this investigation, we have successfully prepared self-supporting 130Te targets of more than 4 mg/cm 2 in thickness with 22 mm diameter and with-and-without backing-support using the HIVIPP method with a protective wax coating. The deposition yield and the thickness uniformity of the Te targets were compared with Te targets of like thickness and size made by vacuum deposition from a flat boat source and a crucible source with a collimator.
