Abstract

The inclusive production of ϒJ/ψ pairs in proton–proton interaction is studied under conditions of the LHCb experiment. In the leading order of perturbation theory, the production of a pair of color-singlet vector quarkonia is forbidden in this reaction, so that channels such as double parton scattering and χbχc pair production followed by radiative decays of P-wave quarkonia are considered in detail in the present study along with the contribution of color-octet states and next-to-leading-order (NLO) corrections. For all these channels, we obtain theoretical predictions for total cross sections in the case of measurements with the LHCb detector and for distributions of various kinematical variables. According to the results obtained in the present study, a dominant contribution to the reaction cross section comes from double parton interaction.
