Abstract

SummaryImmunization with purified Vi antigen elicited incomplete Vi antibody in the Cinnamon strain, and complete Vi antibody in BALB/c mice. Incomplete Vi antibody alone accounted for protection afforded by serum from Cinnamon mice against challenge with fully virulent typhoid bacilli. Absorption tests verified the specificity of incomplete Vi antibody and protection it afforded.
