Abstract
Factors are considered that affect the behavior of nitrogen in steel melting in electric furnaces, extra-furnace treatment and steel continuous casting. The effect of nitrogen content in charge materials, material used during melting and extra-furnace treatment, oxygen purity and other factors on the possibility of achieving a reduced nitrogen content in electric steels is assessed. Specific recommendations are proposed for implementing the possibility of reducing nitrogen content.
