Abstract

AbstractAfter irradiation with 75 keV electrons the optical absorption spectra of differently doped CaF2 crystals show an identical broad band peaking between 515 and 565 nm which is attributed to colloidal particles of calcium. Further evidence for the existence of a colloid is given by an ESR investigation. After irradiation most samples exhibit a narrow isotropic resonance g = 2.006 ± 0.001 which is thought to arise from conduction electron spin resonance in the particles of colloidal calcium.
