Abstract

The production of Biofuels is increased by 20% since 2017. Cellulosic biomass is natural and abundantly available material for biofuel production in India. The major source of Biofuel is lignocellulosic waste and the most non-feeding productive crop is cotton in India. Bioethanol production can be achieved using the cotton stalk as raw material because cotton stalk contains a high amount of cellulose (g50%). Among the all process pretreatment process is highly expensive. For Bioethanol production, the present work is focused on the biochemical pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis which was used for the separation of cellulose from the lignocellulosic compound. The degradation of hemicelluloses was observed by acidic pretreatment followed by a reduction in xylose sugar estimating bioethanol production. The experimentations were carried out to investigate lignin degradation by alkaline pretreatment. According to this research optimum concentration with time is achieved at 2.5% and 60 minutes for the cotton stalk.
