Abstract

Biodiesel is a liquid transportation fuel that can be produced from renewable raw material such as waste cooking oil. The use of cooking oil as raw material for biodiesel production will enhance the viability of the food industry. Biodiesel, and the process is called transesterification. It is a chemical process in which a triglyceride in the vegetable oils and fat reacts with alcohol in the presence of a strong acid or base to produce a mixture of fatty acids alkyl esters (FAAE) and glycerol. Technologies of transesterification of vegetable oils into fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) called biodiesel, have been experimentally established and are well documented in the open literature. But, no previous work using ultrasonic tubular reactor in biodiesel process was explored. This study will provide useful data for society in the biodiesel process.<div><br></div>
