Abstract

Region specific antisera for human fibroblast interferon (IFN-β) was obtained from New Zealand white rabbits immunized with the immunogen which was the synthetic tridecapeptide corresponding to the N-terminal sequence of native human IFN-β coupled to bovine serum albumin. A sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay for IFN-β was developed and these antisera was successfully applied in the purification of human IFN-β by affinity chromatography, resulting in about 100-fold purification in one step.
