Abstract
SummaryPigs maintained on a diet in which purified casein was substituted for crude casein and to which 2 per cent sulfasuxidine was added developed anemia which responded partially to purified liver extract and completely to pteroylglutamic acid. This anemia resembles that which has been produced in pigs given a folic acid antagonist.Pigs maintained on a diet containing crude casein and to which 2 per cent sulfasuxidine was added developed less pronounced anemia which disappeared spontaneously.
