Abstract

The probability that an electron in a constant uniform magnetic field will generate a pair of heavy particles is calculated, neglecting the effect of the field on their motion. It is shown that the emission of pairs leads to a preferential orientation of the electron spins in the opposite direction to the magnetic field, as in the case of synchrotron radiation.
