Abstract

The influence of some irradiation parameters on the specific radioactivity of 18F was studied using two different target systems and nuclear reactions. Both systems use water as target material. Ion liquid chromatography was used to determine the amount of stable fluoride present in the target water after irradiation. The amounts of some other anions were also determined. Specific radioactivities at a maximum of 140 Ci/μmol were measured in samples produced by irradiating 18O enriched water in a 190 μL silver target chamber.
