Abstract
SummaryChromium-chromium oxide coated steel, also known as tin-free-steel, is currently produced in the no. 1 tinning line of ILVA—Genoa by a high current density plating process. The process allows the deposition of metallic chromium and chromium oxide layers on the steel strip in a single operation, with very high plating efficiency. The most important aspects of the plant, process and technologic characteristics of the final product are outlined.
