Abstract
Analyticity and crossing properties of helicity amplitudes are used to discuss production and decay of vector mesons (π, ω, K*) in high-energy (p lab≳3 GeV/c) meson-nucleon collisions, much in the same way as elastic scattering. Asymptotic relations between the cross-sections and the decay angular distributions for a vector meson and its antiparticle are derived. The restrictions on the decay distributions following from exchange of definite parity and charge-parity are discussed. A nondynamical approach, using the assumption of a common phase for all amplitudes, is proposed and successfully compared to the experimental data.
