Abstract

Human chromosomal DNA coding for single chain urokinase-type plasminogen activator (scu-PA) has been inserted into a vector and expressed in LB6 cells. The recombinant clone termed 1C9 is stable and produces scu-PA at about 0.8 mg/I/day in a bioreactor. The scu-PA produced is human by amino- and carboxy-terminal analysis and immunoblotting. The recombinant scu-PA is glycosylated and fully activatable by plasmin.
