Abstract

AbstractIntegration technologies applied to product development is an important issue at Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) research area. There is a need to explore new approaches to improve product development in a collaborative and globally manner. This paper presents a PLM approach to evaluate and analize collaboration methods applying reverse engineering process. The research work uses a lathe case study developed by EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia and supported by PLM laboratory infrastructure from Tecnologico de Monterrey, México. This paper argues that new integration technologies using PLM tools and reverse engineering improve the product development process. The first two stages of a case study are presented and the further research is to fully automate the manufacturing process of a lathe through reverse engineering.
