Abstract

In Malaysia, besides consuming nasi lemak & roti canai, the popularity of having kaya and butter with bread for Malaysian breakfast is increasing nowadays. Currently in the market, kaya & butter will be sold separately where consumer need to buy both of them to eat with bread. Producing a combination of homemade kaya and unsalted butter known as breadmate is a great innovation idea as it has a natural taste of traditional kaya and blend with unsalted butter delicious taste in just 1 piece. Looking at its potential and benefits to consumer, a research has been conducted to produced 2 in 1 breadmate slice from homemade kaya and unsalted butter. This study is assigned to determine the presence of combination taste and the acceptance level of respondent towards producing 2 in 1 breadmate slice from homemade kaya and unsalted butter. Descriptive analysis was used to analyse data collected using SPSS version 24 to obtain the frequency and mean values for assessing taste, smell and texture. The test results of this study shown that the overall mean value of 4.70 for taste, 4.73 for texture and 4.73 for smell. It also scores 86.6% as a convenience way for breakfast. This is proven that the presence of combination taste in the breadmate slice and the acceptance level of respondents towards breadmate slice is at high level.
