Abstract

Two approaches to measurement of broadband data for TDOA are generated. Each uses two‐channel, FFT‐cascaded processing. The first, performed in the frequency domain is developed from edited, two sensor, phase data, using the MSC function. Phase dta are edited on the criterion of SNR. The second approach, performed in the time domain, is developed from split‐beam sensor data. TDOA is estimated using the anti‐correlation function. A model for the correlator approach was run at a range of SNR, −10 to +10 dB for a parametric range of TW products, 1–32. Variances in TDOA were measured for the model and compared to predictions. A 3‐dB difference was noted, but not felt significant for the small statistical sample. The two approaches to TDOA measurement are compared and performance is predicted for each within given parameter bounds.
